Where you should be..

Its summer time yall, and there are a plethora of events and activities to partake in this summer especially in Columbus. Even if you don't live in Columbus, you may get some ideas of things to do where you live. This is what I love about summer, you can always find something to do. Sidebar would like to give you some ideas on what to get into this summer with friends or even on that hot date you've been planing (wink wink). This weekend will be the Park Street Festival, June 10-12. This local festival is located in the Arena District along Park Street. Grab a drink or drank and some food from the vendors and restaurants along the street. There will also be great live music and other fun activities such as a mechanical bull (FUN!!!). We will keep you updated with other events going on this summer. This is no way you can be bored this summer, no way. Also check out your local paper for other events that may interest you. See you at the festival

Welcome To The Real World

Who said that people should work 8 hours a day?! I'm still employed at the same grueling job that I've continued to gripe about for at least the past year and change does not seem to be near. My position here has changed to where I only want to pull my hair out once a week versus everyday. Hooray! Sounds like great progress huh? Its amazing how many people feel trapped in this job and that everyone if looking for an out...

I recently had a job interview for a new job, still in the banking industry, but is it wrong that I'm rethinking how bad I actually want this position? Here's the story...I have had two interviews with this company, the first went great! I liked the manager, she was friendly and explained the position and atmosphere in a great light. After leaving the interview, I found myself excited about the new opportunity presenting itself. I was supposed to receive word about whether or not they would hire me in a week. I waited...and waited...My interview was originally on a Friday and by time the next Friday rolled around I hadn't heard anything. That next Tuesday, I gave them a call only to leave a message that did not get returned. The next day, Wednesday, I heard from the HR recruiter. She told me that the location I interviewed for had gotten a new manager and that this new manager wanted to speak with me about the position, so we scheduled another interview. Ok so, I wasn't getting blown off...yay! I go to this second interview on Friday and I was very optimistic. I meet the new manager and this woman brought a whole new demeanor. She was friendly, yet very down to business and numbers driven. Some of her questions caught me off guard, not understanding why she was asking them or really what answer she was looking for. When discussing the move from phones to face to face communication, I told her how I considered myself to be a "people person" and preferred face to face communication. She proceeds to ask, "Well then why did you take the position you have now?" Uhhh...I NEEDED A JOB! How am I supposed to answer that question? I was out of college not even 6 months at the time, I was only working part-time, and this job offered full-time hours AND benefits...as bad as the economy was (still is), I couldn't turn it down! I don't understand why that was relevant information or how that proves how qualified I am for this position. When I explained how I saw a growth opportunity at this company, she then asks, "You haven't found any other opportunities with your current job?" Well if you must know, I've applied for several positions only to not hear back from about 98% of them, which basically takes a hit to my confidence level, making me feel like I'm not good enough...is that the answer you wanted? What about being happy that I want to join your company? What about asking me questions about how the position at hand? No? You don't want to ask those questions? Again, another question that I don't think matters for this interview. She also wanted to ask me about goals that I had to meet at my current position with sales. Sounds like a relevant enough question...Oh, you want actual numbers? Like you really want to know how many products I had to sell in a month and what my average handle time was for my calls? I did mention I haven't been on the phone in months right, so whatever figure I throw at you are going to be completely made up!? Come on lady!

Sidebar: Your bland personality is making me wonder how the staff is taking to you? I bet this environment will change shortly, possibly causing unhappy employees. I'm unhappy and I don't even work for you! And FYI: interviews are not only for a manager to get to know a potential employee, but also for the potential employee to get a feel for how the company operates. Shouldn't a manager want to make a good impression for themselves and the company? Just a thought....

Realizing that I'm not excited about the position or the woman I would be working for, do I take the job if it is offered just to get out of my current situation? Would it all be worth it to go into a new job knowing that the manager has already rubbed me the wrong way? It would be a step up, as well as a raise. Sounds like this might be a lose-lose situation... -- KscaY

It's not me, it really is YOU!!!!

Sidebar...so you remember my last relationship post right?? ( I know its been awhile) But if you don't remember, Ill give you the abridged version. My "boyfriend" just stopped calling, or answering calls or texts as a way of "breaking up" with me, without giving me an explanation why. Awful right?? Well I finally heard from him and of course he couldn't give me a valid explanation to his actions, all he gave me was of course Excuses, including but not limited to that he found it hard to communicate with me how he was feeling and that he wasn't ready for a relationship. (But did I mention that he is currently in a relationship with the girl that he was essentially cheating on me with???) This eventual communication came about an the random, with him making brief attempts of contact through text messages and facebook. He apologized for what happened and admitted that what he did was wrong. He says he hopes we could stay in contact and maybe even get together before I leave for law school. My first reaction was of course a straight "hell no". However the question has popped into my head, should I accept his apology and let the past be the past? I honestly find it hard to forgive him just yet because I am honestly still pissed off about the entire situation. I received an awesome message from my sands that talked about forgiveness. It said "...when we choose to forgive, we open our hearts so we can receive Gods forgiveness and allow His love to flow freely through us...people will let you down, they will hurt you and they will disappoint you.Dont let the actions of others block your relationship with the Father by holding unforgiveness" This really hit a soft point with me because I truly believe in the power of forgiveness and yet I am sooo not ready to forgive my ex just yet. Its a complicated emotion. However I do believe that I will be able to forgive, just not now...is that bad? Am I justified in feeling this way? Will God give me a pass for a little bit to be mad? We'll see I guess..azureDizzle

Livin' La Vida Homo!

Alright, so it finally happened, Ricky Martin came out of the closet. Its kinda like when you were really little and you thought that if you covered your eyes you were hidden cause you couldn't see them so they couldn't see you. Yeah, Ricky, I knew your behind was gay, just cause you didn't say it doesn't mean I didn't know.

I mean, cummon, I have 2/3 brothers who are gay. Different extremes, but both gay. Like Stronge in Boomerang "I know gay! My brotha is gay!" lol.
Well, I guess a Zippity Doo Dah and Congrats are underway to him for finally releasing himself to be who he was all along.
So, sorry ladies, but SHAKE YOUR BON BON RICKY! (Which totally explains the wording of that song now!) lol

The Dressing Room

Spring is in the air!! and wonderful spring clothes are in the stores. Its about that time to start putting away the warm winter clothes and swapping them for your spring attire. Check out your fav store and grab some nice pastels and bright colors. Pairing them with naturals and anything animal print is soo in this spring. And of course, spring means its time to show some leg...so skirts will be all the rave this spring. Pencil, flared, mini...they're there for your choosing but make sure that it fits your body type. And of course you can always hit up Sidebar with any outfit questions. Happy Shopping-azureDizzle

Its not me, Its YOU!!

Now I haven't done one of these in a while, probably because everything had been pretty much smooth sailing in my "relationship". How can one day everything be fine and dandy and the next you don't receive a phone call, text, facebook message, nothing? How can you really tell someone you love them but don't call for the next week? or you tell them you need to talk but not answer your phone or text someone back??? First of all that's just rude as hell and second its just plain not right. You don't do that to people you supposedly care about. I don't know if I'm the one with the problem but I'm pretty sure I'm not. If he was just scared before to talk to me, he should definatly be scared now. I have also come to realize that I need to focus on my self and do what I need to do...Ive spend almost 6 years playing this on and off game and I'm not on it anymore. But it also sucks because as women I feel that we need sometimes to have some type of affection from a man. whether it is a compliment or an arm around the shoulder. I have to watch it though because this feeling can get the best of me and I don't want to get into anything I'm not ready for..especially when I'm supposed to be working on me. I could revert to my "I'm a pimp" days but i don't really want that either. This is a complicated situation. I'm hoping it turns out...I'm sure it will. I just have to be patient.

And if homeboy number 1 does ever call me...he's getting straight cussed out-azureDizzle

The Dressing Room

Rain, Rain, Go away...come again when I dont have to go outside for anything. Well it's getting to be about that time...Spring...when it rains and rains and rains all the time. Im sure you've seen them in the stores..the very cute and useful Wellington boots (or Wellys)...most important during this coming time of the year. I mean for real..what other shoe is most appropriate and stylish in the rain?..flats? No. Water gets all in your shoe and then you're slipping around everywhere..leather boots? Maybe..but do you really want to get your leather all wet and unless you have spray protector, it might not turn out so well...ugg type boots? absolutely not..ive tried it before...they do get soaked and then your toes are all wet and cold. So my vote is that wellys are the best for the rain (and snow...because when snow melts all over your Ugg boots its not cool either). Honestly, wellys can get you through an entire year. And if you live in Seattle, I'm sure you have more than one pair of Wellys (I heard it rains a lot in Seattle and Portland and those other far north-west states). My personal fav is the brand Hunter...because they fit around my big calfs. So ladies if you have large calfs, you may just want to try you some of these...other than that the choices are endless. Next time you're at the mall, stop by almost any store and try you on a pair...I know you'll fall in love.- azureDizzle

From the RED CARPET!!!

If you didn't already know, its awards season folks. Time to grab some popcorn and get ready for the rest of the awards show line up with the Grammys and Academy Awards (Oscars). The Grammys are my personal fav because I love music and always love watching the mega performances. This year it looks like the ladies are running the show with Beyonce, Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga coming up with multiple nominations. And can we say FASHION! I cant wait to see all the amazing and amazingly ugly outfits that will pop up.

Im going to take a moment to take a look back at the Golden Globes and the SAG (Screen Actors Guild). In terms of the films I was really rooting for Precious: A flim based on the novel Push by Sapphire. Not only because it was an amazing flim ( Mo'Nique played the mess out of that role...hairy bear legs and all)...but it was also the only film Ive seen out of the lineup (yes I've been slipping on my pimpin at the box office). I plan on taking a day off to see all of the films before the Academy Awards so that I know what's going on. As far as I know Avatar is stealing the show. Maybe once I see it, I'll know what all the hype is about.

And I cant leave you without talking about the fashion at the awards show...Im going to give you the good, the bad and the horribly ugly of both awards shows.

Golden Globes- The Good: Lea Michele (get it girl, the dress was bomb.com) , The Bad: Julia Roberts (it looked like a coverup that you would take to the beach..not Golden Globes worthy) , The Horribly Ugly: Nicole Kidman (she looked like a big present wrapped in pink ribbon)

The Screen Actors Guild- The Good: Diane Kruger (one word- Beautiful), The Bad and Horribly Ugly- Drew Barrymore (WTF)

Until the next awards show-azureDizzle

So....

Its a new year...and the beginning of a new decade. Im patiently waiting for VH1 i love the...umm..the..first 10 years of the new millennium. I love those specials...but what i have been wondering is what is the moments of the decade. Theres Y2K in 2000..everyone was going around freaking out buying potted meats and building underground shelters. 2001 marked the devastating impact of September 11th...and the start of the war on terrorism. 2002-2008 is kind of a blur. 2009 of course is marked by the election of our first black president, President Barack Obama. Its amazing how 10 years can go by so fast. What is the first 10 years going to marked as as an era?? When you think about the 60s..you think about hippies and free love. The 70s..disco...80s...heavy metal and mtv...90s...cross colors and hip hop...the first 10 years of the millinneum( i dont know what else to call it)...umm...still havent come up with anything. I may have to wait till VH1 figures it out for me-azureDizzle

Spotlight!!!

So this morning I read on people.com that the heiress to the Johnson and Johnson fortune Casey Johnson, 30 died. Now this may not seem like breaking news and honestly i didnt even know who she was, but what surprised me is that in the article it said that she died a "natural death"...what the hell is natural about dying at age 30??? Something else had to be wrong. Like Brie-Z said before..maybe she had a heart condition or something...but of course they are waiting on toxicology reports...and who knows what that will reveal.the only thing i have to say is take care of yourself people...life is too short for bs.-azureDizzle

Now this movie doesn't come out until Jan 15th (Dec 11th in select theatres) but you all have to go see it. Now I say this with the hope that the movie is just as good as the book. I know what you're thinking...that doesn't happen often, as seen with the Harry Potter series and other book to film attempts. But a girl can have hopes right???

Well if you dont get to catch the movie please check out the book entitled The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. I do promise you this...you will not be able to put it down.--azureDizzle

SPOTLIGHT...

Ok, I know, damn its been a looong time! Sorry we have day jobs!
Anywho, my SPOTLIGHT today is on the disappearance of celebrities. As of recent it seems that people have been falling over dead out of nowhere!

This morning Brittany Murphy (8mile, Clueless, Girl Interrupted, Riding in Car with Boys) died at freaking 32-years-old! 32! She drops dead from a full cardiac arrest!
Now what I sadly am hoping is that she had some type of cardio pulmanary disease because alot of these other celebs dropping dead has to do with some type of hushed drug problem that they had.

This sounds too much like what happened to MJ. A heart attack out of nowhere and the paramedics not able to revive. Last I ready, they are doing an investigation into her death because of its untimeliness.

Speaking of celebs, I know the whole Pleasure P child molestation has been pretty crazy, but with a name like Pleasure P, you've gotta wonder. But this thing with Melvin "Shane" Sparks being put in jail with $560,000 bail for several counts of child molestation has sent me for a loop!

When I hear these types of things I hope that there was a misunderstanding like the girl was 17 and he was 18 or something like that because I feel like violating a child is one of the most heinous things a person could do. That one act of power/passion will scar that child for life creating self-esteem issues amongst other things or could even perpetuate it self in that child to become a molester themselves thinking that what happened to them is normal.
As a read, with Mr. Sparks it was a situation in which he was about 24-25 (he is now 40) and she was about 14 and he did things to her. This may be wrong but she may have been being what our mommas call "fast" but to bring it up now is preposterous. It was 15 years ago. I dunno, let me know what you think.

(oh, and yes, I stole the pics. I have no shame! lol)

WTH is going on?! Bring me back down to earth please. Thanks!

SPOTLIGHT...Trey Songz Edition

CAUTION: This video has been rated R for explicit sexual content by Sidebar...please do not watch this in your cube @ work because if your boss happen to walk by you may get canned for watching porn at work. Thanks in advance.

Sooo this video has been the talk of the town on FB all nite and after finally watching it...all I can say is wow. I was definitely not prepared for everything that transpired in the video. Ive seen some risque videos in my day but nothing compares to this. I wasn't sure if I should have been turned on by Trey Songz (like it seemed all the ladies of the world were) or shocked @ all the biting, licking, legs open that was going on. Now I do think that Trey is very cute..however this video left NOTHING to the imagination. That's the beauty of sexy celebrities people...if you don't see EVERYTHING you can imagine ANYTHING.

Sidebar...so a couple questions came to mind after watching this video....and here they are.

1. What was the conversation like between Trey and the model (I heard her name is Grace)? I mean was it like any other casual conversation? Like "Well it was nice seeing you again" or "Great working with you"?...or was it more like "lets meet back at my trailer for some more takes"? Because I don't know how you could be just buddy buddy with someone after all that went on in the video. I'm just saying.

2. What was it like for the crew on set? Having to watch all that and fix hair and make up during the process? That had to be at least a little awkward.

3. And what about the director? What kind of direction was he calling out? Like "Trey...her legs need to be on the bedpost..on the bedpost. thanks" or "I need to see a lot more biting here people. Like I actually want to see pulling of the skin. Thanks"

These questions may seem a little weird to you but they were just some things I thought about.--a.k.47
